Passing away

When you pass away, your partner and children generally receive a pension.

Your situation:

Your (deceased) partner is a participant of Pensioenfonds PGB

You are probably reading this because your partner has passed away or is about to pass away. We wish you strength. Unfortunately, we cannot take away your grief, but we hope we can give you some clarity about what to expect.

  1. The local authorities in the municipality where you live usually notify us of a death

    -  If you reside in the Netherlands, the local authorities in the municipality where you live will
       notify us of your partner's death. You don’t have to do anything.
    - If you live outside the Netherlands, please send a scanned death certificate to
      ks@pensioenfondspgb.nl. Alternatively, you can send a copy of the certificate by post. You can find our address on our contact page.

  2. We check whether you and your children are entitled to a pension

    Children up to the age of 21 are automatically entitled to an orphan's pension. Children aged 21 and over must demonstrate that they are attending a (vocational) training course.

  3. You receive an application form

    If you are entitled to a pension, you will receive a letter with more information and an application form.

  4. You apply for the partner's pension or orphan's pension

    You can use the application form to apply for a partner's pension and an orphan's pension.
    Please note: if your partner already received pension benefits from us, you do not need to apply for your partner's pension. The partner's pension will be automatically paid into the account to which the pension was transferred.

Nobody likes to think about it, but it is important to know what arrangements have been made if you or your partner die. This page provides more information about this.


What are the arrangements for your partner and children when you die?

Your partner may receive a partner's pension and your children an orphan's pension.

What happens to your pension if your partner dies?

This will only affect your pension if you are already retired and opted for an equal pension upon death.

  • If you reside in the Netherlands, we will automatically notify you.
  • If you live outside the Netherlands, please send a scanned death certificate to ks@pensioenfondspgb.nl. Alternatively, you can send a copy of the certificate by post. You can find our address on our contact page.
